I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. I am so deeply sorry for the circumstances under which we have to meet, but I am truly thankful we have found each other on this journey.
Hi, My name is Jennifer Cagle-Huffman. My friends and family call me Jenn and I hope that you will too. I am the CEO/President/Founder of SOLOS Survivors Of Loved Ones to Suicide, Inc. I created SOLOS in May of 2012 in memory of my beautiful Mother, LaVonn Cagle. I was born, raised, and will probably always live in Missouri USA. I am blessed with a beautiful family; my husband Vernon, our 6 amazing children (ages 8-26), a lovely daughter-in-law , and 2 of the most gorgeous grand babies on this Earth (I may be just a little biased), with another grandson arriving in November 2017. I love photography and take the majority of the images you will see on the SOLOS Facebook Page. I love to travel and History is my favorite subject. Nothing makes me happier than meeting fellow SOLOS and listening to their stories of survival and strength. I am very passionate about speaking publicly about my loss so others know they are not alone.
My beautiful angel mother died by suicide on May 16, 1998. The loss of my mother was a life changing event. Though I know I will never be the same person I was before my loss, I have lived through it and dedicated my life to helping others. I have always said, "If I can help just one then I know my mother did not die in vain." I am committed to advocating for suicide prevention, awareness, and postvention. I feel they all work full circle. I have seen, first hand, the effects and trauma after a suicide loss, and how important it is to have a strong support system in place, along with resources for suicide prevention.
Research has proven that talking to peers following a suicide loss is a very important part of the healing process, I fully agree with this. That is why I have created SOLOS, a safe and peaceful place for survivors of suicide loss to come together and meet other survivors. I have met some of my dearest life friends through SOLOS and traveled far and wide to get to meet them face-to-face. I pray that you find the same solace that I have, through SOLOS. Above all I pray that you always remember, you are not alone!
Much love, light, and healing!
